Tell us a brief description of WHO you are?

I am a Women, Mother, Entrepreneur who gets joy from the clients that I provide services for. I’m humble and grateful when a person decides to come to me to bring a vision forward.

What does "SheHustles" mean to you?

She hustle means that I (She) will do whatever it takes (hustle) to make my vision and dreams come true. Sometimes it may require working two jobs or sacrificing sleep and/or personal pleasures.

What has been the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?

Maintaining a full-time job while investing time and energy into my Business.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I decided to start my own design business because I was unhappy with the selection of clothing that I would see when I visited department stores for plus size women.  The choices were slim and not very appealing. The tee shirt portion happened by chance. I made a tee with my logo for my design company and it was a big hit which prompted me to make more custom tees and sell them.

Where do you see our business in 5 years?

In five years, I see my designs on a few runways shows, hiring of at least 2 employees and introducing my jewelry line.

How do you overcome rejection?

I struggled with this for some time but with a little prayer and understanding I came to the realization that is for me will be for me regardless of anyone. So I don’t see it as rejection, just that it’s not for me at this particular time.

How do you stay motivated and what keeps you going?

I think that this is a very good question. There are times when you do feel like not pressing so hard or giving up but wanting to leave a legacy for my children as well as representing for plus size women. Times have changed and the world is embracing plus size women more, but there is still work to be done in terms of where we shop and the types of clothing available.

What is your key to success?

The key to success is never giving up and learning new ways to innovate and improve yourself.  When you are feeling like you want to throw in the towel, I go back and look at some of my accomplishments and the feedback from clients. My repeat customers are a reminder that my services are needed and wanted.

What is the key thing that you want people to know about you?

That I will give all of my energy and time to make sure that my customers are happy and that the product they receive supersedes their expectation.

What has been some of your biggest successes/acheivements?

I have been trying to think of a way to get my designs noticed. Earlier this year I competed in the Kurvacious Modeling Completion and 3 out of the 4 articles of clothing I wore, were A Design by Diva Originals.  While I haven’t taken on any clients for designs yet, I did come in first place runner up and will be walking in another show this year, in which more of my designs will be showcased.
